Area, Perimeter and Measurement: Crew 42 makes Newspaper Carpets?!

Getting a new carpet? Organizing and plotting your flower bed?  Placing a framed picture on a wall?  Painting a wall?  Building a new house?  The real-life uses of area, perimeter and measurement are all around us.  During this assignment students were given the charge of creating an area rug out of newspaper that was 9 square feet.  They had fun working in teams to accomplish this task, but it was hard work!

Visiting With Our Pen Pals At Scott Elementary

       Recently, the third graders at the Westminster Schools visited with their pen pals at Scott Elementary School.  In the beginning of the year, each student exchanged letters with their pen pals.  The students from both schools asked great questions in order to get to know their pals before they met them.  What was it like when they finally saw each other in person for the first time?  Let's hear what some of the students in Crew 42 had to say about the experience....
